Royal Oak is moving ahead with a plan to set up temporary bike lanes along Main Street in the downtown to determine whether they can be a permanent feature for cyclists.The experiment is expected to start as early as this spring.Rather than hire a relatively expensive traffic study, city officials have decided to set up the temporary bike lanes as way of gauging what the effect will be on motorized vehicles when the number of traffic lanes is reduced.
