RPattz's new futuristic western gets green light from Screen Australia.By Ashleigh Schmitz Robert Pattinson Photo: Getty Images After turns as a wizard, vampire and a circus vet, Robert Pattinson is adding a western to his resumé. On Wednesday, Pattinson's film "The Rover" got the green light as an Australian production company announced it would provide financing for that and three other flicks."These four highly engaging and diverse Australian stories have huge potential," Screen Australia's CEO, Ruth Harley, said in a statement posted by The Hollywood Reporter." 'The Rover is a powerful, well-crafted script from a talented team with an impressive cast." Set in the Australian desert, "The Rover" is a futuristic western about Eric, a man who "has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him, as he's forced to join an injured gang member, Rey, to hunt down Rey's gang after they steal the last of Eric's possessions." Guy Pearce and "Animal Kingdom" director David Michôd join Pattinson for "The Rover." Porchlight Films will produce the movie in association with Los Angeles-based Lava Bear Films, with Liz Watts, David Linde and Michôd producing. After starring as a lead in a blockbuster series like "The Twilight Saga," many actors might have a hard time adapting to other roles.
