Richard Mangino, a 65-year-old man who lost his legs and lower arms from a bloodstream infection, underwent a successful double hand transplant last week, according to news reports.The surgery for Mangino, who is from Revere, Mass., took 40 Brigham and Women's Hospital medical staff (including surgeons, nurses, radiologists and anesthesiologists, among others) 12 hours to complete, the Boston Globe reported.
