Voter suppression didn't win the presidential race for Mitt Romney, so now Republicans are trying to find another way to steal the next election and make Democratic votes count less—change state laws so electoral votes are divided proportionally, by congressional district. Since they've managed to gerrymander House districts to the point that they control that chamber despite having substantially lost the popular vote, they know they can regain the White House that way. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus endorsed the idea this week, and other Republican leaders support it, too, suggesting that the effort may be gaining momentum.
