GRAND JUNCTION — The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is investigating possible crimes in a reported bear attack near Carson Lake. The Daily Sentinel reports (http://bit.ly/1KvCXB5) the department has not provided details, but Deputy Ben Carnes said the case was opened after additional information came to light. Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesman Mike Porras says an elderly man sustained unspecified injuries Saturday night when he was reportedly mauled by a bear on Grand Mesa. He said the district's wildlife manager spent much of Sunday investigating the incident.
