Variety is reporting Relativity Media acquired the domestic distribution rights to “Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer.” The movie adaptation is based on the children’s book series written by Megan McDonald, which has sold over 13 million copies and in 23 languages. The script is written by McDonald and Kathy Waugh. The books follow the humorous adventures of a third grader, Judy Moody. “Judy Moody has an enormous fan base the world over,” said Sarah Siegel-Magness, a producer of the film.
