AKRONCivil rights group wins grantAKRON: Fair Housing Contact Service, an Akron-based civil rights organization, has been awarded more than $400,000 in federal grant money in its efforts to eliminate housing discrimination. The grant is part of $2.67 million awarded to Fair Housing organizations in Ohio from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.Nationally, HUD awarded $38 million to help fight violations of the Fair Housing Act.Fair Housing Contact Service received $300,000 for enforcement work and $125,000 for education and outreach.
