REDDING - Firefighters battling a blaze near a home on Route 58 have shut down the roadway. Officials said Friday at around 11 a.m. that Route 58 has been closed between Giles Hill Road and Beach Lane while firefighters respond to a structure fire in the area. Firefighters with the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, including their tanker truck, are providing mutual aid at this time. Tankers from the Danbury Fire Department were called in for mutual aid as well as crews from the Brookfield fire department. More information on the nature of the fire was not immediately available.
