In the 11 weeks since Harvey's landfall in Southeast Texas, the floodwaters have receded, classes and work have resumed, and locals have celebrated the Astros' World Series win. Absent obvious lingering signs of the tropical storm's devastations, life has moved on for many, particularly in Beaumont, the region's city center. But people like Amanda Allison and her Vidor family remain as trapped in poor living conditions as they were by floodwaters, their days now bookended in trailers parked on their property. Her kids are back in school, but they're learning lessons at home, too, like how to empty the graywater and blackwater tanks on their temporary homes.
