On the first Friday in September, Houston started a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park. Before the opener, Astros manager A.J. Hinch roundly praised the Rangers. It was pointed out to Hinch that the Rangers at that point had the best record in the majors for one-run games at 30-8.“I’m surprised they’ve lost eight,” Hinch said. That’s understandable. The Rangers have built their dominance over Houston in the American League West during the last two seasons on the uncanny ability to beat their rival in one-run games.
