Alcohol sales will be allowed in Beaumont city parks during city-sponsored events in addition to the Henry Homberg golf course and the Event Centre, City Council voted. It means, for example, that city-approved vendors can serve beer and wine at a planned Oktoberfest at Rogers Park on Oct. 17. Before the vote, alcoholic beverages could be served only at Riverfront Park during a city-sponsored event, at the Event Centre and in a restricted area at Homberg. Now, the adult beverage sales will be allowed throughout the city's 35 parks if the city is hosting an event, like one of the neighborhood events that circulate among the city's four wards each year.
