Polk County Commission May Raise Incentive Cap

BARTOW | The sky may be the limit on handing out tax breaks for new companies considering Polk County. County Commissioners agreed today to ask the Central Florida Development Council to review the provisions of the county's 2013 ordinance that offers property tax breaks as an incentive for locating in Polk County. Specifically, they want CFDC to weigh in on whether the $2 million annual cap on property tax breaks should be removed or modified. The ordinance, which was based on recommendations from a committee organized by CFDC, was approved by voters in a 2012 referendum.
