Police and rescue are rushing to the scene of a crash between a Maine State Police cruiser and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 295 in Richmond. The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. in the northbound lane of Interstate 295 near mile 46. There are injuries as a result of the crash, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Details were not immediately available, but initial radio reports indicated the trooper was briefly knocked unconscious, but was later able to speak to dispatchers. The tractor-trailer came to rest in the median and was reportedly fully engulfed in flames. Both northbound lanes are closed at mile marker 41, McCausland said.
