Edwin "Anthony" Maldonado, 35, allegedly wrote checks totaling $3,750.54 to himself from the account of the Parent-Teacher Association at Stratton Elementary School, Colorado Springs police said Wednesday. Maldonado was arrested Sept. 22 and faces felony theft charges, said Sgt. James Sokolik. Maldonado was elected president of the PTA in May.
