Jefferson County's sprawling pasture and farm land can be challenging to emergency responders, but it helped a pilot in trouble save his plane and himself Tuesday afternoon. Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Stephanie Davis said it took authorities almost an hour to find Chad Kennedy's Cessna because of the remote location where he made an emergency landing. Kennedy, an experienced pilot, was flying a Cessna 152 - a small, four-seat, single-engine plane - on a run from Houston's Ellington Airport back to New Orleans' Lakefront Airport when air traffic controllers noticed his altitude dipping, Davis said.
