School officials announced Friday that the district needs an additional $216 million to keep operating as they are right now, which they say is already inadequate. Chief Financial Officer Matt Stansky said the $2.4 billion budget can't even maintain the current bare bones staffing levels and without the additional revenue, 1,000 more teachers could lose their jobs.
