A Texas man was struck and killed by a pickup truck as he tried to cross Atlantic Boulevard late Friday in Jacksonville. Justin Kinnunen, 35, of Dallas, died at the scene of the collision about 11:30 p.m. at Atlantic Boulevard and Mayport Road. The driver, Wiam P. Battah, 45, of Jacksonville, wasn’t injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The GMC Sierra pickup was westbound on Atlantic when Kinnunen, who’d been standing in the safety zone, attempted to cross the road and was hit, the Highway Patrol said. read more
