Associated PressCOPPER CENTER, Alaska — A Colorado skier has died after falling through a cornice in Alaska's Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. The National Park Service says in a release that Peter Inglis of Telluride, Colorado, fell into the cornice near the 7,000-foot level of the mountains, about 20 miles southeast of Chitina, near Tebay Lake, on Wednesday. Authorities say a passing airplane landed at the site and determined Inglis was dead at the scene. Recovery operations being conducted by Alaska State Troopers and rangers from the park service were underway Thursday. The park service said Inglis was lead guide for Ultima Thule Lodge, located near Chitina. Chitina is located 200 miles east of Anchorage.
