WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is heading to North Carolina on Saturday as the state recovers from Hurricane Helene, arriving there one day after a visit by Republican Donald Trump, who is spreading false claims about the federal response to the disaster.
Earlier in the week, Harris was in Georgia, where she helped distribute meals, toured the damage and consoled families hard-hit by the storm.
Hey, the wanna-be scouts on the Grading The Week staff are unanimous on this one: Travis Hunter walks into the Broncos’ starting 11. Right now. And by “starting 11,” we mean both of them. Offense. Defense. Whatever he wants.
Hunter wants to stay in Colorado, apparently. Or at least that’s what the Buffs’ two-way star and Heisman Trophy contender told the “Kickin’ It With Dee” podcast a few days back.
“I wish I could go to the Broncos just to stay in Colorado because so (many) people just welcome us with open arms,” said Hunter, whose 4-1 Buffs come off this weekend’s bye with a massive, prime-time Big 12 showdown against Kansas State on Oct.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — This isn’t just Jamal Murray casting aside questions about his health and downplaying his recent injuries.
In fact, as if he had a definitive display of athleticism for the media planned to perfection, he pounced at the rim Friday for a contested slam dunk — moments after the doors had been opened allowing a throng of reporters to watch the last 30 minutes of Denver’s practice.
Point taken.
“I feel good,” a curt Murray said during the team’s media day at Ball Arena, rejecting any notion that he was dealing with lingering injuries as training camp began.
One week later, and on the opposite side of the globe, his emphatic dunk supplied some meaningful evidence.
A rural Colorado county courthouse beefed up security Friday after threats were made against staff and a judge who sentenced former county clerk Tina Peters to nearly nine years behind bars and admonished her for her role in a data breach scheme catalyzed by the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump.
Courthouse staff in Grand Junction received multiple threats that were being vetted by law enforcement while extra security was provided, said spokesperson Wendy Likes with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
She did not say how many threats were made or how they were received.
The 2024-25 NHL season began this past weekend with a couple of games in Prague, but league play begins in earnest in the coming days.
It should be a fascinating season. International hockey is coming back. The Edmonton Oilers looked like clear Stanley Cup favorites in early July, but an ultra-rare double-dose of offer sheets from the St.
High temperatures and dry, windy conditions are expected to fuel the risk of wildfires across Colorado on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The agency issued a Red Flag Warning early Saturday morning for the Denver metropolitan area and other parts of Colorado, saying gusty west and northwest winds combined with low humidity and unseasonal heat would drive fire danger.
“Given (that) vegetation has dried significantly in recent weeks, this combination of factors will lead to widespread critical fire weather conditions across the forecast area from late morning through early evening,” the warning states.
Impacted counties include Denver, Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, Jefferson and Lincoln.
