Two city signs were unveiled in front of family and friends Saturday morning to honor Walter H. Matthews, Jacksonville’s first licensed/bonded black contractor. But whoever made the signs didn’t check the City Council ordinance designating Blossom Drive in Matthews’ honor — both are missing one of two “T’s” in the late contractor’s last name. read more
