Ahead of Tuesday's primary elections, Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick – a former co-chair of the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption – may have skirted rules disallowing district attorneys from engaging in campaign activity.In a robocall to potential voters made Monday and obtained by the Times Union, Fitzpatrick, a longtime Republican district attorney based in Syracuse, spoke supportively of Onondaga County Legislator Derek Shepard, who was running for re-election in a Republican Onondaga County Legislature primary.
