ONE Archives is the oldest continuing LGBTQ organization in the United States and the largest repository of LGBTQ materials in the world is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.Formed in 1952 by several members of the Mattachine society, an early "homophile" group, ONE Inc. published the first issue of ONE magazine, which became " the first widely distributed publication for homosexuals in the United States," in 1953.To celebrate the milestone year, ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives is starting the party with “Letters to ONE: From Fringe to Forefront,” featuring "star studded dramatic readings of heartfelt, poignant, and deeply personal letters sent to the editors of ONE Magazine during the McCarthy era" on October 6.
