Ok Supreme Court Rules Against Alcohol Initiative

GREEN Capitol Bureau rmgreen@oklahoman.comThe Oklahoma Supreme Court has ruled against a proposed ballot measure backed by the liquor store industry to ease restrictions on the sale of wine and strong beer in certain grocery stores. The ruling released Tuesday did not affect a competing and more comprehensive attempt to ease Oklahoma laws that prohibit the sale of strong beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores. The liquor industry-backed proposal would have allowed expanded sales only in stores that are more than a half-mile from existing package stores. The Supreme Court ruled the ballot title did not accurately disclose this detail and ordered it stricken it from the ballot. Read more on NewsOK.com
