Until early 2020, going to work was a fairly straightforward affair for white-collar employees. Then the pandemic hit, and for nearly three years most Californians were forced to work virtually. By the time the final COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in May 2023, most office workers didn’t know what their day-to-day jobs would look like thanks to a dizzying array of work-from-home, return-to-office and hybrid employment policies.
