A father of nine who was shot during an attempted carjacking in Oakland last week has died. Oakland police say Jose German Barrera Asencio died Tuesday afternoon in a hospital, where he had been on life support since the April 14 shooting. The 45-year-old Barrera Asencio was driving a van on his way home from work when two men tried to stop the van.
