Not Guilty Pleas Made In Huge Stamford Swindle Case

STAMFORD-Two men extradited from Pennsylvania in connection with the theft of a elderly Stamford man’s life savings, made not guilty pleas to larceny charges Monday. With a demonstration that miraculously turned two white slips of paper into genuine $100 bills with the help of some sort of chemical, the trio convinced the man to give them short term loans to purchase the chemical, making them all rich. The three told him they had “tons” of the bills and needed money to buy the dye that would remove the coating in the scheme, which for over a decade law enforcement has dubbed the “black money scam” . Through some kind of slight-of-hand move, the three were able to switch the bundles and take the man’s cash, said police officer Michael Stempien, the lead investigator on the case. [...] the former Greenwich resident says his blood pressure is “off the charts,” and is reduced to surviving on food stamps.
