TroyThere will be no public parking included in the proposed $25 million project to redevelop the former City Hall site at 1 Monument Square, city officials said Monday.While an underground public parking garage with 200 spaces was envisioned for the site years ago, all that is to be built in the latest proposal is private parking for about 88 vehicles for the 80-plus apartments.Bill Dunne, the city's planning and economic development commissioner, said, "The 200 spaces existed in someone's mind before they got into the site."Several downtown business owners have expressed concerns about reduction of parking spaces associated with the project."Parking has always been an issue," said Jim Scully, owner of Bacchus Woodfired, an Italian restaurant at 33 Second St.Scully and attorney Peter Jones said many businesses are worried about the construction of new residential units without additional parking.
