AAA Northeast honored Officer Jason Flynn for his “quick actions” as well as the Newtown Police Department’s “outstanding traffic safety programs,” the association said in a news release. The police department received the association’s Gold Award for several initiatives, including a child passenger safety program, aggressive drunk driving and motor vehicle campaigns, bike safety classes, distracted driving patrols, and a Citizens’ Police Academy.
