At 10 weeks post-op, I picked up my 23 pound grandson and walked about 20 feet with him...spent the next 2 days glued to the couch from the abdominal pain, and it took 10 days until l could walk 2 blocks without feeling like my insides were falling through.

On paper, the recovery time was 4 weeks, but wow, at 4 weeks I couldn't sit upright long, stand long, bounce up and down the stairs with my usual exuberance, nor walk the 3 mile route I used to run before surgery.
