Savings that are earmarked to be spent soon don't count in the same way as savings that are earmarked for retirement from a MMM perspective. I do the same thing too. I pat myself on the back for saving 50%+ each month, knowing full well that we are planning a bunch of travel later in the year that will eat into that savings rate.
