Every time I buy a new book, I write my name in/at/on the right-hand corner of the first page. Hi, Which prep. fits best in the above and why? Thanks.

If you want a name for all of these sentences, they are mandative (this is a comparatively new term which is not common in grammar books). All of the sentences express the same sort of thing: a command, a demand, a suggestion, etc. They use three different grammatical structures: subjunctive, or modal, or indicative.

I also find that we use "by" most often when referring to books. "Have you read that new book by James Patterson?" would be a good example or "There is an entire series on the political development of western civilization by (enter said author)." I hope this helps in whatever capacity possible!
