I first met Laurie once I arrived in NZ and started working at Ian Franklin Boatbuilders in the mid 1980’s where we were building a couple of his ¾ tonners.

Upwind in flat water 7 knots. Upwind in a blow 7 knots. Dead square 7 knots. Tight reaching in a breeze 7.1 -7.2 knots. And triple spreader in-line fractional rigs. Runners and Check stays. A delight to gybe. God I miss her.
