Gibbons are very social animals that, unlike most other primates, often form long-term bonds and sometimes mate for life. Despite being commonly referred to as monkeys, gibbons are actually classified as apes. However, they’re not considered great apes like their gorilla, orangutan, chimpanzee, and bonobo cousins.
