- 'the USA' vs. 'the US' - English Language & Usage Stack ExchangeRegarding talking to people in Venezuela, Cuba, or elsewhere in South/Latin America, I would actually say it's better to use "US". In most Spanish dialects it's called "los Estados Unidos" (the United States) and citizens of the US are called "estadounidense" (literally, United-Statesian).
- What is the difference between "English" and "British"?Regarding people from Northern Ireland, I would consider Irish as referring to citizens of the Republic of Ireland (geographically southern and central Ireland). Unfortunately, I am doubtful that there is a definitive answer as to which is appropriate as it will depend almost entirely on the personal views on the reader.
- Difference between "voters", "electorates" and "constituents"Arguably it doesn't include some "non-citizens" (illegal aliens, temporary residents, etc.). The quoted passage pluralises electorates to emphasise the "universality" of (any) Parliament's attitude to such (by way of contrast to politicians' attitudes, which are biased towards getting votes from them). –
- What is my Nationality: United States of America or American?This is not similar to other nations. China is not a section of a larger continent called China and doesn't abrogate the name of a continent to describe the nationality of its citizens. Citizens of the "Commonwealth of Australia" do call themselves "Australian" but there is no other nation occupying the same continent. –
