Ba‘ath Party, Pan-Arabist political party advocating the formation of a single Arab socialist nation, founded in Damascus by Michel Aflaq and Salah al-Din Bitar. It became the ruling party in Syria in 1963 and in Iraq in 1968. More @Wikipedia
