2 off-duty Fla. officers fatally shoot naked woman

Two off-duty Florida law-enforcement officers fatally shot an armed, naked woman who confronted them at a social gathering Saturday, authorities said. The shooting occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday in Hernando County, north of Tampa. The county sheriff's office said in a news release that the men were approached by an "armed, naked and irrational female." The news release does not identify the weapon, but it says "one or both of the law enforcement officers fired their weapons, striking the female." She died at the scene.

Five people were found dead in a neighborhood bar where a fire broke out early Wednesday, and police think the blaze was set to cover up their slayings. The fire at Fero's Bar & Grill was reported around closing time at 2 a.m., Police Chief Robert White said.

 

Possible Meteor Strike in North West Louisiana

Northwest Louisiana authorities are investigating the source of whatever shook people's residences and businesses about 11:40 p.m. Monday. The Webster sheriff's office now is entertaining the possibility that it may have been a meteorite, possibly in the Dixie Inn area. There have been a large number of reports stating that they saw something come down instead of something blow up, a spokesman said.

 

Cops: Two held over tot's drive-by shooting

Two people have been arrested in connection with the drive-by shooting of 16-month-old boy last week, New Haven police said. A stray bullet hit Tramire Miller in the abdomen while he was sitting with family on the front stoop of a home on Kensington St. on October 10. He was rushed to surgery and has since been released from the hospital.

 

Murdered man encased in concrete was ex-journalist

Authorities on Friday identified the body of a man who was found entombed in concrete in the backyard of a northeast Georgia home. The man has been identified as Sean Dugas, 30, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner's office. The body was found Monday encased in a plastic storage container filled with concrete.

Denver police say it appears one shot has been fired at the Denver office of President Barack Obama's re-election campaign. Police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez tells The Denver Post no one was injured in the shooting Friday afternoon at the office on West Ninth Avenue near Acoma Street. A large panel of glass was left shattered.

Police say Escalona was so mad that her daughter soiled her pants that, as punishment, she super glued the girl’s hands to the wall then beat her in front of her other siblings... Escalona’s kids told investigators their mother kicked the girl in the stomach and repeatedly hit her.
