As Apple's engineers scramble to fix the security flaws exploited by evasi0n, the latest jailbreak tool to crack the restrictions on its iPhones and iPads, the company may be more than just one move behind the community of hackers targeting its products. In fact, the jailbreakers say they have plenty more bugs in their back pockets, already waiting to jailbreak the next iPhone.

The Librarian of Congress announced new exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act Oct. 25 that will impact what consumers are and are not allowed to do with smartphones, tablets, game consoles and e-readers for the next three years. The new rules, which go into effect Oct. 28, will let consumers jailbreak or root their smartphones, but not tablet computers and home gaming consoles. Digital-rights activists had sought exemptions for the latter devices as well.

Nearly 600 inmates in a Vietnamese drug rehabilitation camp overpowered security guards and escaped, an official said Monday. At least two-thirds of them were still at large.

Trinh Vuong Thuan, a security official at the rehabilitation center No. 2 in the northern port city of Haiphong, said 578 inmates overpowered security guards to break through the center's gates on Sunday.
