As President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney prepare for their party conventions, their campaigns are trying to invigorate core supporters while reaching out to undecided voters who harbor doubts about the incumbent yet aren't sold on his GOP rival.

A Gallup Poll shows 20% of voters say Mitt Romney's wealth makes them less likely to vote for the Republican... "Enough Americans generally and independents specifically say Romney's wealth makes them less likely to vote for him that it could in theory make a difference at the margins in some key swing states," writes Frank Newport, Gallup's editor in chief.

The bruising Republican primary has given President Obama and his campaign an opportunity to craft his message for the general election, especially as it relates to winning over independents.
