A consortium of companies including Google, Yahoo, MySpace, Meebo and more announced tonight that it will launch a new system on Monday that will let website owners discover which social networks a site visitor uses and prompt them automatically to log-in and share with friends on those network.

Yahoo continues their strategic defeat from the front lines of innovation. Earlier today they announced that they'd be "deeply integrating" with Facebook Connect, allowing Yahoo users "to see your Facebook friends’ activities on Yahoo! and share Yahoo!

Electronic Arts’ acquisition of Playfish in a deal worth up to $400 million signals that Facebook’s virtual goods economy is thriving. Meanwhile, Facebook Connect has been implemented on CNN.com, NBC.com, WashingtonPost.com, The Huffington Post, ABCNews.com and numerous other media sites.

Facebook Connect launched to the public less than a year ago, and already it's seen an incredible amount of traction. Unfortunately, for those people with little to no coding experience, implementing Facebook Connect has seemed like more trouble that it was worth.
