News - Spidey, Panda 2 Scripts Get Polished

Veteran screenwriter Alvin Sargent has been hired for a polish of James Vanderbilt's script for Sony's "Spider-Man" reboot reports Heat Vision. Sargent, whose work involves "punching up weighty scenes", has done a similar job on the scripts for all the previous Spidey films at Sony - including the scrapped fourth film. A source also adds that compared to the Raimi films, the new Spider-Man will be "more emotionally anchored and realistic". In similar and far more surprising news, the site also reports that acclaimed scribe Charlie Kaufman ("Being John Malkovich," "Etertnal Sunshine") has performed a two-week script polish on DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming sequel “Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom". As animated movies tend to be worked on by multiple writers, it's likely Kaufman's work will go ultimately uncredited.
