Financial crimes investigator Michael Stempien said the arrest of 41-year-old Pablo Marcano stems from a January complaint regarding checks being counterfeited that appeared to belong to the marble company. When police looked at the documents used in the transactions, Stempien said that each of those who cashed the checks used their real name and presented their identification.
