The Colorado Springs Fire Department ordered a burn restriction Friday as the city continues to see above-average temperatures. Fireworks, burning trash and recreational fires, such as campfires, are prohibited under the restriction and could result in up to 189 days in jail, $2,500 in fines and probation, said Brian Vaughan, CSFD public information officer, in a media release. Permits for ceremonial bonfires will not be issued during the burn restriction. Outdoor smoking is prohibited in all city parks and open spaces under the restriction but is permitted in designated smoking areas. Read more on Colorado Springs Gazette
