Having been a journalist during a good part of my past life, I see the First Amendment as sacred. The right of free speech is a major part of the foundation upon which our country was created. It is so important that the founding fathers made it the very first amendment, and for good reason. People need to have the right to criticize, talk about, praise, worship, and say what they think, or it is not a “free society.” Justice Holmes said, however, free speech only goes so far; you do not have the right to cry “FIRE” in a crowded theatre when there is no fire. Lately, too many people have been crying “FIRE!” in that theatre.
