Investigators got a break when Brown was in an automobile accident on Feb. 1, 2015, and police found a black Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol the glove box. Detectives in the Kansas City Police Department crime lab test-fired the gun in June, and the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network matched it to the weapon used to kill Stone. Detectives located the owner of the vehicle used in the shooting with the help of surveillance video from a nearby gas station.
