M&t's Merger Talks With Spanish Giant Santander Break Off

M&T Bank Corp. has been holding talks with Banco Santander SA, Spain's largest bank, about buying the Spanish bank's U.S. subsidiary bank Sovereign, but those talks have broken off, sources said.
