WILKES-BARRE — Three more city police officers face suspensions in the latest round of disciplines that has prompted some city council members to call for an independent review of the department. Sgt. Phil Myers, president of the union representing the officers, and Mayor Tony George confirmed the suspensions. Myers said more may be coming. Myers said the actions taken by the mayor and his appointed police chief Marcella Lendacky are retaliatory against the union and an attempt to divert attention from the independent review. “It’s union busting,” Myers said Wednesday. But the mayor dismissed Myer’s statement.
