LAFAYETTE — A fire Monday afternoon destroyed a home and caused it to collapse. The Lafayette-Jackson Township Fire Department responded to the fire at 3630 Murray Road, three miles northwest of Lafayette, shortly before 2 p.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find both stories of the vacant two-story home engulfed in flames, Assistant Chief Brent Bassitt said. Tanker trucks took turns shuttling water onto the scene, Bassitt said, and crews spent about three hours at the site. There were no injuries reported.
