A kidney transplant that could have been derailed because of a snag with a fundraising effort may move forward anyway, said the director of Maine Medical Center’s Transplant Program on Thursday. “We’re not viewing this as a deal breaker,” said Dr. John Vella, of concerns that a GoFundMe fundraising campaign that generated nearly $50,000 – intended to help support the family of a Windham man who agreed to donate his kidney to a South Portland woman – would prevent the donation from taking place. Josh Dall-Leighton, the potential donor, said he hopes he can complete the donation to Christine Royles, who is on dialysis. “My decision (to donate) has never wavered,” Dall-Leighton said.
