For the second time in eight years, local leaders are considering merging the Lancaster Police Department’s 911 center with the county’s emergency communications system in an effort to save money. Lancaster County Administrator Steve Willis said the county has been approached by the city about a possible consolidation. City of Lancaster Administrator Flip Hutfles said the goal of any sort of consolidation is an enhanced, safe and economically efficient service.
