By Kassondra Cloos kassondra.cloos@gazette.com -A public memorial service will be held Saturday for a Colorado Springs woman who gained a national following in the debate over physician-assisted suicide. Kara Tippetts, 38, died Sunday after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. The 1:30 p.m. service will be at Village Seven Presbyterian Church, 4040 Nonchalant Circle South. Tippetts gained a huge following after writing an open letter to Brittany Maynard, who became a vocal advocate of physician-assisted suicide after she moved to Oregon to take advantage of the state's law allowing it.
